How my milk supply went from ZERO to HERO
I was VERY passionate about breastfeeding and I still am, but I didn't realize how hard the struggle would be (with large boobs, flat nipples 😩). I was told riff after my son was born that I would have a hard time with breastfeeding and I didn't want to believe it- I was so annoyed.
At 3.5 months old, I totally quit breastfeeding, it was hard, I was stressed and this poor boy of mine was so hungry. I went all in for formula. At first it was a relief, but he wasn't taking to formula quite as well. Now he's 5 months and I thought I would try to boost up my supply again and give it a go now that I've been refreshed a bit. I still made a bottle like normal, but each feed, I laid down to nurse him first and then went to the bottle when he was clearly frustrated there wasn't enough milk.
BUY THESE ITEMS TO QUICKLY BOOST MILK SUPPLY
- oatmeal for breakfast with fruit (oatmeal helps so much!)
- brewers yeast (I like mixing it with peanut butter and putting it in oatmeal or eat it with an apple, some people make cookies with brewers yeast) (bulk barn)
- Fenugreek and blessed thistle capsules (bulk barn)
- mothers milk tea (bulk barn)
- up your water intake!
So, after quitting Cold turkey, I managed to boost my supply back up. I'm still not stressing about strictly nursing him but it's amazing to see him getting full feedings just from me!
BENEFITS FROM BREAST-FEEDING
There are so many benefits to breast feeding but for my little guy, I find he's less irritated drinking breast milk, and he instantly falls asleep feeding and it is said to help with pain relief.
In conclusion, I'm glad I took the pressure off of myself to breastfeed and took that break, it helped my mental health but boy am I thankful that I'm able to boost my supply so easily after cutting it off cold turkey! It's good to be back to nursing my boy! ❤️
